In March 2020, a small edition of artists' books made by Wilma Vissers (1962, NL) can be seen in The Glass Cabinet.
About her work:
‘The books were made as a result of my stays in Ireland, Scotland and Iceland. While walking through huge impressive landscapes, I find the inspiration for the artworks in these books. Often these are made on site, with materials that I have found there. With this editions I also try to interpret old craft techniques in a contemporary way, to re-use this knowledge and to pass it on.’

You are invited to meet the artist on Tuesday 31st of March at 16hs in The ARTisBOOKshop (Pelsterstraat 27-29).
During this encounter, Wilma's approach to artist books and work processes will be discussed. The books which are now on display will be also available for people to see and experience.
An interview about Wilma's work will be published on the website of the ARTisBOOK Foundation.
The Glass Cabinet is a monthly display of artists' books initiated by Barthold Boksem and ARTisBOOK Foundation in 2018. With it, we aim to share, promote and create new perspectives upon artists' books; by exhibiting the work made by different kind of artists and by also having an open encounter with them and the public.
In Maart 2020 is in The Glass Cabinet een presentatie te zien van kunstenaarsboeken in kleine oplage van Wilma Vissers (1962, NL).
Over haar werk: ‘De boeken zijn gemaakt naar aanleiding van mijn verblijven in Ierland, Schotland en IJsland. Wandelingen door grootse meeslepende landschappen vormen de inspiratiebron voor deze kunstwerken in boekvorm. Vaak worden deze ter plekke gemaakt met materialen die ik daar gevonden heb. Ook probeer ik met deze uitgaven de oude ambachtelijke technieken op een hedendaagse manier te interpreteren, eeuwenoude kennis te hergebruiken en door te geven.’

Je bent van harte uitgenodigd om de kunstenaar te ontmoeten op Dinsdag 31 Maart om 16:00 uur in The ARTisBOOKschop (Pelsterstraat 27-29).
Tijdens deze ontmoeting zal Wilma’s benadering van kunstenaarsboeken en werkprocessen besproken worden. De boeken die worden getoond, zullen ook beschikbaar zijn voor het publiek om door te bladeren. Een interview over het werk van Wilma zal worden gepubliceerd op de website van de Stichting ARTisBOOK.
The Glass Cabinet is een maandelijkse presentatie van kunstenaarsboeken geïnitieerd in 2018 door Barthold Boksem en Stichting ARTisBOOK. Hiermee willen wij nieuwe perspectieven op kunstenaarsboeken delen, promoten en creëren door het werk van verschillende kunstenaars tentoon te stellen en ook om een ontmoeting te hebben met de kunstenaar.
Helaas is door de corona crisis de ontmoeting met Wilma op 31 maart in de ARTisBOOKshop niet meer door gegaan.
